The Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Abuja Archdiocese of the Catholic Church, has resorted to prayers to seek God’s interventions in the escalating insecurity in some parts of Nigeria.
The President of the Confraternity, Dr Hope Cole, told newsmen in Abuja that Nigeria’s rising security threat required prayers from all patriotic citizens.
According to her, “Special prayers have been organized, beginning today, for God’s intervention in the insecurity troubling our nation. It is the main focus of our Annual General Meeting. We are hopeful that as we carry out these activities and celebrate our events with dedicated Masses, God will change our situation for the better. The AGM is a sacred moment for renewal, communion, and strengthening our mission as Christian Mothers.
“When women pray, heaven shakes. This is why our society is intentional about grooming mothers to be strong prayer pillars in their homes. A mother who raises her children in a Godly way becomes a blessing not only to her family but to the entire society.”
Speaking also, the Chairperson of the Planning Committee, Mother Lucie Samuel-Mhii, stated that, “This year is truly unique. As a society, we are extending our love beyond our usual boundaries by visiting the orphanages and displaced persons’ settlements. We are also committed to empowering the poorest among us, ensuring that no mother is left behind.”
Mother Mhii also advised Nigerian youths to avoid the get-rich-quick syndrome. She told the youths “to grow with patience, hard work, integrity, and the wisdom of waiting on God, because anything gained without Him never lasts”.
It was gathered that the Confraternity of Christian Mothers is a pious society in the Catholic Church dedicated to praying for national and family intercessions.
Its 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), according to the organisers, will hold on Saturday, 29th November 2025 at St Benedict Catholic Church, Lokogoma–Apo, Abuja.
