INEC declares APC winner of rerun election in Kebbi

Following the conclusion of Saturday’s by-elections held at Yauri local government area of Kebbi state, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday declared Umar Garba ‘Bullet’ of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of Ngaski, Yauri and Shanga federal constituency.

Professor Abbas Yusuf Bazata, the returning officer said Garba polled 54,885 to defeat his opponent Garba Hassan of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP who scored total votes of 16,6652.

“Therefore, Umar Garba of APC having scored the highest votes is hereby declared winner and returned elected, the returning officer had said”

In his reaction, the winner Garba Umar pledged to work hard enough to bring positive developments to the constituency and will always bring his opponent closer to move the constituency and Kebbi state forward.

The election was held to fill the vacant seat of former federal lawmaker, Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu who was appointed minister of state for education by President Bola Tinubu.
