The Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) has called on Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC) and other authorities concerned to wade into acute power challenges in Dukku Army Barracks in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
The area representative of the association in Kebbi State, Mrs Juliana Dauda made the disclosure in Birnin Kebbi when she spoke on the sidelines of the just concluded Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
She lamented that neighbours of the army barracks enjoy steady power supply but the barracks gets only one hour or sometimes thirty minutes in a day.
“We see electricity in our neighborhood but in our barracks only one hour, sometimes less than that, the barracks is dark at night which is not good at least for security reasons”.
Dauda stated that the army officers’ wives need prayers for their husbands at the frontline and empowerments for her members to enable them support their husbands and widows.
She also prayed for the repose of the souls of fallen heroes who fought to protect Nigerians and paid the supreme price.
“We also pray to God to continue to protect our husbands at the battlefield and fallen heroes for their sacrifices to the nation”.
According to her, with only membership strength of fifteen so far, they task themselves whenever they want to execute a programme just like the little empowerments they did to their members to support them, so they need financial and moral support to implement their plans on the pipeline.
