In a symbolic show of appreciation for uncommon commitments and huge support to Kebbi State Sickle Cell Association, Tuesday, honoured the Kebbi state first lady Zainab Nasir Idris (Nasare) with a prestigious award of golden ambassador on sickle cell and other blood inherited disorders.
Speaking at the presentation, the Chairperson, Kebbi state the association, Hajiya Hadiza Yahya Shantali described the first lady as an epitome of humanity whose role in sickle cell prevention and de-escalation in Kebbi State saved the lives of many sickle cell patients.
Shantali maintained that the first lady saw to the passage and passing into law the pre-marital testing for potential couple.
“The pre- marital law promulgated to ensure potential couple are medically matched drastically reduced sickle cell prevalence in Kebbi state, hence our reason to honour her with the golden ambassador on sickle cell prevention”.
She added the honour seek to encourage here to do more for the society and a token of appreciation for her unmitigated support to sickle cell world even as her interventions has given hope to hitherto hopeless patients across the state.
