Following the directive by the federal government to reopen the land and air borders, the Kebbi State, Comptroller of Custom, Iheanacho Ernest Ojike, has officially reopened Kamba land border in Kebbi.
The new Customs boss stated that reopening of the Kamba border was also sequel to the directive of Customs Comptroller General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi to pave way for international and local lawful trades at the border.
Ojike, added that the reopened border does not allow activities, goods and services that will weaken the country’s economy saying officers and men of the customs are there to simplify trades as long as stakeholders import within the customs extant laws, make declaration and pay duties to the federal government coffers.
He reiterated the command’s resolve not to allow anything that would compromise security of Nigeria despite the reopening of Kamba land borders.
“Arms and other obnoxious items will never pass through the reopened border as we will intensify vigilance and scale up our intelligence gathering”.
The district head of Kamba, Alhaji Mahmuda Fana, stakeholders and sister agencies in the state attended the official reopening.
