Security checks by the Benue State Government has revealed that all foreigners working in Pure Bio-Tech company located at Bezu village, along km18 Makurdi-Gboko road, do not have valid documents to either work in Benue State or to stay in Nigeria.
Attorney General and commissioner for Justice and Public Order, Fidelis Mnyim, in an interview with journalists revealed that security operatives on the orders of Governor Hyacinth Alia, uncovered the development while investigating the death of a staff of the company; a Benue indigene Wisdom Akura, whose death was shrouded in secrecy by management of the Chinese company, until security intelligence licked the information to the governor who directed government officials to investigate the issue which the company later confirmed.
Mnyim said the governor had blamed the death of Akura on lack of safety measures and regulations put in place and directed the Pure Bio-Tech company to seale- off operations with immediate effect, stressing that the decision became necessary to protect the lives of others working in the facility from dying like fowls.
The Justice Commissioner also stated that the governor frowned at the absence of the Nigerian flag in the premises of the company and directed that Nigerian flag be hosted in the premises of the company with immediate effect.
Responding on behalf of the company, Public Relations Officer, PRO of the company, Mohammed Abdulkadir, described the death of the staff as unfortunate, but noted that it was an accident.
He promised on behalf of management to ensure that all the safety measures would be put in place as well as to secure valid documents for foreigners working in the company as soon as possible as directed by Benue State governmet.
