Governor Ahmad Aliyu has donates the sum of N600 million to 2,800 Islamic clerics in Sokoto State known as Ulamas.
Governor Aliyu Sokoto made this known during the commissioning of 56 buses and cash donations to Ulamas and Muazzims and scholars in the state.
He said subsidy removal has caused hardships to urban and rural areas, the reason why President Bola Tinubu introduced ways for common men.
The governor said he acknowledged and considered two buses to each of the 23 local governments to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy in the state to ease means of transportation which he said is subsidised.
“On our part, we considered paying salaries to Ulamas,Muazzims and Arabic scholars across the state”.
Ahmad Aliyu also said the Toyota Camry purchased for mother and town service has yielded support, the reason why the gesture is extended to local areas for transportation at affordable prices.
He urged the drivers of these buses to utilize rhem accordingly for their benefit and their rural people calling on the local governments administrators to ensure they hand over the buses to reliable drivers.
Earlier in his welcome address, Commissioner for Religious Affairs Dr. Jabir Sani Maihulla informed the gathering that with the support and advice of the APC leader in the state, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko tremendous achievements have been recorded wirhin the 365 days of this administration that has direct bearing with the lives of Sokoto people.
