The provost of Kebbi State College of Health Sciences, Jega, Alhaji Haruna Saidu Sawwa, has described as fictitious, baseless and mischievous the allegations making the rounds that he has connived with a certain body in Oyo State to extort students of his college to the tune of N23m.
Reacting to reports by some sections of media who didn’t seek his own side of the story that the cause of the students protest was as a result of the introduction of new course in the college which is not true the alleged new course has been in the college for many years therefore to say the school management connived with a certain body is the height of lies.
To further dismiss the claim, he said every student admitted in the college was issued with an offer which clearly stipulated duration and the type of course he was given to run, so how can one expect diploma when his admission letter reads certificate.
“I challenge the person to come clean in his allegations of students extortion and his claim of course duplications. Let me state categorically, the school management and myself have no hand in the said allegations of course duplications and extortion, our school operate treasury single account, TSA, where all monies belonging to the school are paid to and no one has access to the account including myself”.
He said the protest was triggered by the anonymous source of those newspapers who didn’t balance their report but hurriedly went to press to satisfy their pay masters who has been working round the clock to pull down the college with outrageous claims and untrue allegations.
Meanwhile, normalcy has returned to the college after security agencies intervened and chased away the sponsored protest.
