The Kwara State Command of the Nigerian Police Force has charged three dismissed officers of the command to court for alleged criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the death of one Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, and they were all been remanded in prison custody.
In a statement issued by the Kwara State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Friday, the three dismissed officers; Mr Abiodun Kayode, Mr James Emmanuel, and Mr Oni Philip, were charged to court on 16th October 2024 and were subsequently remanded.
“The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the public that the three dismissed officers, Mr Abiodun Kayode, Mr James Emmanuel, and Mr Oni Philip, have been charged to court on 16th October 2024.
“They face charges of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide in connection with the death of Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola. They have been remanded in prison custody pending further court proceedings”, the statement revealed.
Ishola was a National Diploma (ND) 2 student of the Electrical Engineering department. It was learnt that he was out to purchase an item around 5.00 pm on September 4, 2024, when some policemen harassed him.
It was further Ishola was trying to run from the policemen harassing him when an officer’s gun was discharged, and it hit him in the ensuing chaos.
