Why I answered calls to join Nasarawa 2027 guber race, says Ex-NASENI boss

The immediate past executive vice chairman of  National Agency for Science and Infrastructure, NASENI, Professor Muhammad Sani Haruna, has stated that pressured from the youth, elders associations and political stakeholders in Nasarawa State prompted him to join the race for contesting the governorship of Nasarawa State in 2027.

Professor Haruna who made the assertion in an interview with journalists in Keffi, Nasarawa State yesterday, said he has no option to reject the clarion call of his people.

His words: “It is true that I am responding to several calls from the youths, elders, groups and associations to participate in the politics of Nasarawa State. This time around by the special grace of God, if we are alive, healthy and opportune to witness 2027, we will participate by aspiring to lead the state.

“We have the intention not because we wanted to be counted amongst the governors of the state, but because of the progress, welfare, peace and stability of the state as well as the utilization of the untapped mineral resources that God has blessed the state with”.

Answering a question on what prompted him to join politics even as an academician, he said, “I am not only an academician, but also an industrialist and a politician because I participated in school politics during my undergraduate days and leadership of academic staff union both in the polytechnic and at the university; so I am a politician.

“However, considering the fact that there’s no how you can appropriately influence the progress of welfare and improve changes for the betterment and development of people without influencing policies and programs. And this can only be achieved through politics.

“In Nasarawa State, from my hearth, I am glad with the industrialization drive and public private partnership that the government is doing. As an engineer who has headed organizations, I know that what will transform and stabilize our economy is for us to use modern technology towards achieving the needful and that is exactly what our governor is doing”.

According to him, the ongoing industrialization of Nasarawa State with special emphasis on the positive steps been taken by the governor of the state, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, the state will continue to witness tremendous developments.

He further advised the newly appointed Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government (SSG) Barr. Shauibu Labaran Magaji to discharge his duties accordingly and accord governor  the needed support geared towards bringing more developmental strides to the state
