The ward chairmen of the Labour Party in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, last week, expressed satisfaction with Pharmacist Chilaka Sigmund Chimeziem, a frontline chairmanship aspirant of the Labour Party for AMAC in the 2026 FCT Area Councils polls and promised to work for his emergence as the party’s candidate.
Speaking last during a consultative meeting with all the ward chairmen in Abuja, which had 11 chairmen in attendance out of 12, all those that spoke with NationsPride Media said they have seen something different in the person of Pharmacist Chilaka, which puts him ahead of other aspirants that have approached them over the same matter.
In his speech, chairman of all the ward chairmen, Comrade Joshua Madaki urged his colleagues to ensure Chilaka is given the ticket to run for the chairmanship, because he observed that the man has the potential, wisdom and capacity to deliver Labour Party during the councils election.
Below is the statement by some of the chairmen who bared their minds on supporting Pharmacist Chilaka Sigmund Chimeziem:
Gui Ward chairman, Johnson Ewa: “I must tell you that I second all the statement made by Garki ward chairman, I can verge for the character of the aspirant to a large extend. This is an aspirant for today who will eventually become AMAC chairman tomorrow. I have the confidence that when Chilaka wins the election, he would not disappoint.
Kabusa Ward chairman, Ikechukwu Mmeje: “You should update the ward chairmen on all your moves because we have the capability of determining who wins the Labour Party ticket”.
The Nyanya Ward chairman: “I thank Pharmacist Chilaka for taking the bold step. We are received a lot of aspirants on this table, but you are first to come with a written document stating where you have managed an office and some of the achievements you have gotten there, and I saw them as people-oriented projects. It is a very good achievements that stands out for you.
“I want to also thank you for the list of your manifesto and I was looking for a place to fault you, because I a very good critic, but looking at it, I could not find a place to fault you. But I want to beg you sir, we have seen candidates that met us here, but today they are no longer saying anything about their interest. That is not the kind of encouragement we want to get”.
Pharmacist Chilaka speaking
Chairman Jiwa Ward, Alhaji Jibril Mohammed: “From what I see from the aspirant, I can see the maturity in him; someone with experience. By mere looking at his profile and what he intends to do, honestly, I am impressed, because that is to tell you Labour Party has come of age”.
Karu Ward chairman, Chief Joshua Echendu: “Chilaka is an aspirant that is well grounded. For the fact that he is a civil servant meant that he has perfect understanding of processes in government. And also, we found out that he is a person that plays in private sector also, that makes him a man that is standing with his two legs.
“And also with the fact that he has tested the waters of politics, because he is the president of FCT High Court cooperative. So, we don’t have any doubt that he will do well as AMAC chairman”.
City Centre Ward chairman and counsellorship aspirant, Agbazie Ifeanyichukwu: “For the incoming AMAC chairman, by the grace of God, from what he said, I believe him. The truth is that he is the first aspirant to come with a documented manifesto. He handed it over to us”.
