The Zamfara State Progressive Elders Group (ZPEG) has condemned Governor Dauda Lawal’s recent political rally, calling it insensitive and wasteful amidst ongoing violence and grief in the state.
In a statement released on Monday in Sokoto, ZPEG Chairman, Alhaji Mustafa Aliyu Kaura, criticized the governor for organizing what he termed a “lavish and wasteful political spectacle” shortly after returning from Saudi Arabia, while citizens in multiple local governments continue to mourn the loss of hundreds of lives.

It was considered Wasteful Spending on a “political spectacle” during a humanitarian crisis and a Neglect of IDPs, with over 245,000 taking shelter in camps across six local government areas
The group urged the governor to prioritize by security, poverty alleviation, and basic necessities for the people, rather than engaging in “motorcades and political theatre”.
