Barki was abducted by unidentified gunmen in the late hours of Wednesday last week after an official assignment in Makurdi and was going back to his place of assignment.
The Acting Rector regained his freedom at the late hours of Monday this week.
Family sources informed our correspondent yesterday in Makurdi, that the acting rector was released days after some of the management staff abducted with him and their driver were released.
In an interview with journalists, Barki narrating his ordeal said it was God who intervened for him to regain freedom, expressing appreciation particularly to his family, friends and the church for staying awake with him in prayers for God to intervene.
Barki equally appreciated all those who spent sleepless nights in prayers and fasting for him to be released.
In his reaction, the resident pastor of NKST church, Achagh, Makurdi, Reverend, Moses Barki informed that God who does not disappoint His people, heard their relentless prayers and rescued the acting rector.
Reverend Barki who is the younger brother of the acting rector, while commenting further, decried the rate of criminalities particularly abduction.
He appealed to the church to intensify prayers for God to address the situation, believing that only God could cause the attitudinal change and make the youths useful to themselves and the society in general.
He appealed to the state government to look into the security challenges of the state with a view to addressing it to make Benue the envy of other states.
