Bauchi State has been selected as one of the 20 states in Nigeria to benefit from from World Bank Funded Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-Press Project), with an allocation of $ 1 million.
This development was disclosed to the media by Bauchi State commissioner for Livestock Development, Dr Musa Lukshi
According to him, the L-Press initiative is designed to enhanced livestock productivity and resilience, aimed at improving the sectors contribution to the economy.
Meanwhile, the commissioner noted that Bauchi was chosen based on performance conditions and contributions, highlighting the state’s critical role in the initiative
Dr Lukshi emphasized livestock development is a key priority for Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration, focusing on improving pastures, water resources, and overall livestock management.
He added the project will not only boast the internally generated revenue but also significantly contribute to state’s GDP.
He further noted that the livestock industry has immense potential to drive economic growth across Nigeria and Africa in particular,despite its long gestation period compared to other sectors.
He acknowledged that more Nigerians are now turning their attention to livestock development and are committed to exploring opportunities within the sector, speaking at the event, the world bank National coordinator of the project, Mr Sunusi Abubakar ,expressed appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed for the warm reception and commended him for creating an enabling environment for the project.
He reiterated that Bauchi state is a strategic partner in the initiative, which is why it was chosen as a beneficiary, Mr Abubakar further emphasized that the world bank project aims to stimulate economic growth in every society it supports.
