Benue Assembly passes vote-of-confidence on  Gov Alia, Dajo

Benue State House of Assembly has passed a vote-of-confidence on the state governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia and the Speaker, Mr. Aondona Dajoh.

Moving the motion on the floor of the house during plenary at the Assembly complex  yesterday, member representing Mata State Constituency, Simon Gabo stated that since the assumption of office, Governor Alia has embarked on policies and programs that have rekindled the confidence of Benue people in governance.

Gabo revealed that within six months in office, Governor Alia has stabilized the payment of salaries to workers and retirees, total rehabilitation of the dilapidated old Assembly Complex, purchase of 100 buses that are donated to Benue Link’s NiG Ltd as well as the completion of some road projects.

He said for the Governor to do all these within a very short time without borrowing funds from anywhere was an indication that he is utilizing state resources effectively and transparently.

Gabo on the other hand said Speaker Aondona Dajo has demonstrated capacity as well as learnt fast on the job, adding that the speaker has equally carried along all members and the legislative business conducted within the law.

Seconding the motion, the House Chief Whip, Mr. Peter Ipusu representing Katsina-Ala West said the governor has also purchased quality vehicles for members and placed the welfare of state lawmakers at the front burner adding that the Speaker also deserves a confidence vote owing to the effective manner in which he has led the House within the short time as Speaker.

Ruling after a voice vote, the Speaker, Mr. Aondona Dajoh noted that the action of the House will serve as a boost for the governor to do more and expressed appreciation to his colleagues for finding him and the governor worthy of the confidence vote.
