Benue government solicits synergy with NAF for effective tax compliance

The acting chairman of Benue Internal Revenue Service, BIRS, Emmanuel Agema has suede for synergy between the service and officials of the Nigerian Air Force, NAF, Makurdi Tactical Air Command to enable the organisation provide effective tax administration on the civil community operating within the command.

Agema who made the appeal, Wednesday, when he led other management staff of the service during a visit on the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, in a statement maintained that the synergy could be made possible through providing BIRS staff with vital information that would enable them collect personal income tax from civilian employees.

The statement signed by his media assistant, Jacintha Bernard, added that such efforts would also assist the service in the task it has embarked upon which is to build a comprehensive taxpayers register in the state.

Governor Alia

The Benue tax boss while appreciating the Air Officer Commanding the Tactical Air Command FO Edosa for the warm reception, presented some tax issues such as payment of personal income tax and solicited for support of the command to assist BIRS to clamp down on illegal checkpoints and its operators.

Responding AVM Edosa, expressed appreciation to Agema and his team for the visit and promised to cooperate with the service through cross fertilization of vital information for its smooth operation, describing tax payment as a constitutional obligation that is necessary for state development.

AVM Edosa while acknowledging the great support the command has enjoyed from the present administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia, urged staff of the service to work hard as well as remain committed to ensure that the service complements efforts of government to provide good governance to the people of Benue State.
