In a show of solidarity and support, the Benue State Executive Council during its session held Thursday at Government House Makurdi, unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
According to a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the motion which was proposed by the Deputy Governor Sam Ode, added exco equally commended the governor for his adept handling of the state’s escalating security issues and his efforts in reconnecting Benue with the central government.
The Deputy Governor Ode while acknowledging the enhanced cooperation from security agencies in addressing the security challenges facing the state, also reflected on the tragic loss of two Nigerian soldiers who were murdered by armed herders while protecting civilians in Turan, Kwande Local Government Area.
Seconding the motion, Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Rev. Fredrick Ikyaan, praised Governor Alia’s steadfast leadership amidst numerous challenges.
In his contribution,Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr.Paul Biam emphasized the importance of recognizing the Governor’s contributions, stating that “To whom honour is due, honour should be given.”
Responding,Governor Alia accepted the vote of confidence with gratitude, assuring that the unanimous support would motivate him to work tirelessly for the betterment of the state.
He appealed to his cabinet members and the people of Benue to sustain their faith and support for his government, emphasizing the need for unity in addressing the state’s pressing challenges.
He pointed out that the vote of confidence has demonstrated a unified stance within the Benue State government, reaffirming his commitment to creating a safe and prosperous environment for all citizens.
