Gov Alia promises partnership between Benue government and the church

By Henry Ibya, Makurdi

Benue State governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has assured Benue people particularly the Christian community that his administration would continue to sustain support to the church to enhance provision of services to the people.

The governor who gave the assurance at St Thomas Catholic Church, Anum, Makurdi, when he spoke at the holy matrimony between Faith Igber and Tertsea Iorpuu, son to the acting Executive Secretary of Benue State Emergency Management Agency, BSEMA, Sir James Iorpuu, acknowledged the contributions of the church in the growth of society.

He said the church has not only championed development, but complemented efforts of government in providing education, healthcare as well as other essential services, adding that his administration would continue to partner the church for more development.

Preaching at the wedding, Reverend Father John Asen, enjoined the couple to take their vows seriously, be sincere to one each other as well as show love to their family members.

On his part, Engineer Peter Ashiekaa, while speaking at the reception in the capacity of chairman of the occasion, appealed to parents of the couple not to interfere in the marriage of their children, but only offer advice where necessary.

He advised the new couple to be faithful to each other as well as avoid a third party in their marriage.

Father of the groom, Sir James Iorpuu, acknowledged contributions of those who supported the family to organise the marriage and reception, praying God to replenish them abundantly.
