Despite early morning rain that almost marred the Kebbi State local government councils polls on Saturday, many eligible voters especially the women folks later trooped out in their numbers to exercise their franchise at the various polling units across Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
When our correspondent visited some of the polling units to monitor the exercise, a high turnout of female voters was witnessed with very low presence of men who practically stayed away from the polling units.
At the polling units they was high presence of security personnel and party agents belonging to participating parties.
At Rafin Atiku polling units; usually very busy in the previous polls, today witnessed low turnout of male voters.
However, Governor Nasir Idris, who cast his ballot around 11am on expressed satisfaction with the turnout of voters which he attributed to his track record of service and provision of infrastructure across the state.
“The large turnout is the evidence of level playing field we have provided for all political parties in the state to take part in the polls, which Insha Allah the ruling APC will win all the seats.
Idris, who thanked voters for coming out enmass to vote, pledged to continue his good works to his people, while expressing gratitude for witnessing his first local councils polls as governor of Kebbi State.
He assured those that would be elected of his support for them to succeed.
