Kebbi state branch of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, on Tuesday held her 60th birthday with a call to the federal, state and local governments to include youth in the art of governance.
Engineer Ahmed Rufai Abubakar Kahalifa made the appeal in Birnin Kebbi at Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic convocation ground when they hosted youths from the 21 local governments in Kebbi state to mark sixty its years of their existence in the country.
According to him, so far youth representation in the three tiers of government is encouraging but there is need to increase the number to accommodate many more because youth contributions in all sectors of the country are not quantifiable.
“We are fairly represented in the art of governance at all levels hence the reason we are requesting the government to add to our existing number in politics and art of governance for us to make a mark in development across the three tiers of government.

While commending Kebbi governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for appointing large number of youth in his government, he described his government as a friend of the youth therefore urged them to consolidate on the gains made so far by supporting good government’s policies in the state.
Speaking earlier, the commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaji Nuradeen Fingila, thanked the youth for organising such an important event which seeks to bring all manner of youth together to celebrate and chart way forward as congress meeting will follow immediately to appraise the performance of the youth body in Kebbi within the year under review.
Fingila added that youths under governor Idris are enjoying huge support as he graciously appointed over two thousand youth in his government including himself.
“I can tell you without mincing words that governor Idris is running all-youth inclusive government at all levels therefore we need you to support him to succeed as he delivers dividends of democracy”.
