Members of Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shi’ites group, on Friday held procession in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, to protest what is happening in Gaza and to condemn the raging war between Isreal and Palestine.

The procession which began from emir of Gwandu Jumuat mosque through to major roads in Birnin Kebbi ended in Rafin Atiku area with the symbolic burning of Israeli flags.

Hundreds of them encircled the place where Palestinian flag was raised while Israeli flag was littered with petrol and ignited with flame to the joy of the protesters.

Speaking shortly after the burning of the flag, the head of Fulani unit of the Shi’ites, Malam Shehu Bello Wadata said that, its an annual event marked all over the world by their members to show solidarity with Palestine who are being killed in great numbers by Isreal.

“Our spiritual leader Imam Khumain initiated it to be performed every last Friday in the month of Ramadan, hence the reason we hold the procession to join others across the globe”.

While decrying the clash between his members and the police, he said the unprovoked attack is one too many in Kaduna saying it has become the tradition of Kaduna Police to always clash with the members for no just reason.

“We have remained undeterred and unshaken to the practice of our belief; no one can stop or intimidate us”.

Unlike Kaduna, no one was hurt as there was no clash with the police or any security agencies, the procession was peaceful and ended with a strong message to Isreal to forthwith stop the needless killings of Gaza women and children.
