Reps member set to establish incubation technology center in Benue

House of Representatives member for Kwand/Ushongo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Terseer Ugbor, has disclosed that he has set aside N100 million constitutional funds to support the establishment of an incubation technology center at Adikpo, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

Ugbor who made disclosure yesterday when he played host to Kwande Media Forum at his constituency office in Adikpo said already the National Board for Incubation Technology Center, Abuja has approved the project.

He also disclosed that talks were also ongoing with the National Research Institute,Abuja, for the setting up of a Forest Reserve Center at Ushongo town in Ushongo Local Government Area for the development of appropriate technology to improve agro seedlings, preserve forests and ecosystem as well as provide employment opportunities for the people.

He also stated that the Incubation Technology center at Adikpo was to help in processing agro produce into finished products and boost their market value for both domestic foreign consumption as well as to improve the living standard of the people.

The member representing Kwande/Ushongo federal constituency at the National Assembly promised to use his vantage position as Chairman, Ad-hoc Committee on Student Loans and Higher Education and deputy Chairman of the House standing Committee on Environment to push the projects, including construction of four kilometer township roads at Adikpo, as well as installation of solar street lights across the constituency into next year’s federal appropriation.

The federal lawmakers also stated that within six months in office he has instituted development programmes as provision of scholarships with emphasis on the federal government students loans, girl-child education and in the area of hygiene, water and sanitation as well as completed rural electrification project at Achia in Kwande which is due for inauguration.

He however,lamented that Kwande, known for its centrality in the socio-economic and political history of the state, had not fared well since the return of democracy due to seen and unforeseen circumstances and emplored stakeholders, including those in the media to pool their resources together to change the narrative.

He commended members of Kwande Media Forum for the visit and promised to partner the group for progress and development of the federal constituency to bring the area back to its glorious days of history.

In a presentation leader of the delegation and Interim Chairman of Kwande Media Forum, KMF and state correspondent of AlJazirah Newspaper, Henry Ibya assured the Kwande/Ushongo representative that the forum was so far satisfied with the good works he has started and urged him not to relent reminding him that the forum would not always stand as cheerleader but would constantly play its watch dog role,to hold him and other political office holders of Kwande accountable in the task of providing democratic dividends to the people.
