Sultan of Sokoto crowns Kebbi First Lady North West Ambassador of Girl Child Education

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has performed the investiture of the wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris as North West Ambassador of Girl Child Education.

Similarly, the Centre for Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, has conferred on her, the prestigious award of Khadimatul Qur’an.

At the ceremony in Birnin Kebbi, on Saturday, the Sultan of Sokoto, told the gathering that, Hajiya Zainab Nasare, was selected for the position in recognition of her untiring efforts in the promotion of girl child education.

“The Adolescent Girls Initiative For Learning And Empowerment, AGILE, has acknowledged the performance of the First Lady, and resolved to confer the Ambassadorial status on her”, said the Sultan, who is the Grand Patron of AGILE.

Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar who is also the President, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, extolled the outstanding contribution and unwavering support to education in KebbI State by the First Lady and her efforts in returning the girl child back to school.

“We are proud of you and your activities in education”,

“We have monitored you keenly and I believe you deserve the Ambassador for the Girl-Child education to champion the cause of girl child education anywhere you go to in the north western part of the country”,

“Make sure that our girls are back to the classroom to pursue the acquisition of knowledge to any level they desire”, the Sultan remarked.

In a related development, the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris has been conferred with the award of Khadimatul Qur’an by the Musabaqah Foundation for Qur’anic Recitation of Nigeria, Centre For Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodio, University, Sokoto.

The award was presented to Hajiya Zainab at the closing ceremony of the 39th edition of the National Qur’an Recitation Competition, held at the Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, hosted by the Kebbi State Government, under Governor Nasir Idris.

Performing the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Bashar Garba, expressed profound gratitude to Her Excellency for her steadfast dedication to promoting Islamic values throughout Kebbi State.

Professor Bashar Garba emphasized that the exemplary leadership of the First Lady has continued to inspire young women to pursue excellence in both religious and secular education.
