The vice chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the upcoming FCT councils’ elections of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Yusuf Nadabo Mohammed has boasted that there is no other political party contesting against them in the poll due to the performance of the incumbent chairman, Honourable Christopher Zakka Maikalangu.
Yusuf who described Maikalangu as a chairman that has made history in the area council believes that what the people of AMAC would do is nothing but to give his boss the chance to return to office and continue with his good works.
He stated this recently when he represented the chairman at an event while responding to questions on the preparedness of the APC to withstand the other political parties especially the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to him, “I don’t think there is anybody contesting with us. Voting Maikalangu back in his second term bid is just a complimentary effort to avail him an opportunity to continue the good job. My chairman has been there for the last three years and he has broken records”.
On the relationship of the chairman with the non-indigenes, especially the Igbo community, Nadabo said Maikalangu has done for Igbo people what nobody else had done by appointing an Igbo man as chief of staff to the chairman.
“The chairman, for the first time in the history of public office. appointing a person from another clan; he appointed an Igbo man as the chief of staff and I want to believe you understand the roles and responsibilities of a chief of staff. He is more like the heart of the council”.
On why he was chosen as replacement for the current vice chairman, he said it is a political permutation, and that the law empowers the chairman to choose who becomes his running mate.
“So that permutation and balancing are what brought about me”, the chairmanship running mate postulated.
