Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Benue State chapter, have resolved to give the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state a virile opposition to enable the party stand on its toes in the task of providing democracy dividends to the people.
Addressing party members at an expanded caucus meeting held at the party secretariat, Monday, in Makurdi, immediate past governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom, cautioned members against rumour peddling which is an instrument of division, insisting that as an opposition what the party needed most for it to bounce back to power was unity of purpose.
Also speaking former governor of Benue State Gabriel Suswam warned party members against dwelling much on past mistakes that led to the party’s failure in the last general election, describing PDP as a winning party in Benue any time, but noted that the party could only reclaim its lost mandate by working as a family and called on members to shun actions capable of causing division particularly among leaders for the party to recapture power in 2027.
In his remarks senate minority leader senator Abba Moro advised the PDP to take advantage of the crisis bedeviling the All Progressives Congress, APC in the state to strategize on how to come back to the Benue government house, describing Benue APC as confused set of people who were not prepared for leadership.
He urged Party members to remain steadfast and continue to support and work for the People’s Democratic Party for the party to produce government leadership in 2027.
In a welcome address state chairman PDP John Ngbede, explained that the meeting is put together to brief members of developments in the party.
