Ogalegu to Labour: Greater opportunities await Ebonyi citizensA prominent business leader and philanthropist, Chief Barrister Tochukwu Ogalegu, has assured that greater socio-economic opportunities could be unlocked for citizens of Ebonyi State, as he called for sustained collaboration with organised labour to drive inclusive development.
Ogalegu made the remark in a statement issued yesterday to commemorate the 2026 Workers’ Day, where he lauded workers in Ebonyi State for their resilience, commitment, and contributions to national development.
He described the workforce as central to economic growth, noting that their sacrifices continue to sustain productivity and strengthen both state and national development indices.
“Your labour remains the bedrock of our economy, and your steadfast commitment consistently drives growth, productivity, and national progress. The fruits of your efforts are evident in the development of our dear state and the stability of our nation,” he stated.
The Chairman of Zelus Group of Companies and Chief Executive Officer of Zelunjo Empowerment Foundation used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to expanding empowerment initiatives targeted at improving workers’ welfare and dignity.
He disclosed that through his interventions, he has facilitated federal employment opportunities for over 500 individuals, stressing that job creation remains a critical pathway to reducing unemployment and improving living standards.
According to him, sustainable development can only be achieved through deliberate investment in human capital, particularly youth empowerment, skills acquisition, and structured economic initiatives that promote self-reliance.
Ogalegu further expressed optimism about the future of Ebonyi State, stating that with collective effort between government, private sector actors, and organised labour, broader opportunities could be created for citizens across different sectors.
He also hinted at his intention to contest for a legislative position in 2027, noting that such a platform would enable him to contribute more effectively to policy formulation aimed at strengthening workers’ welfare and promoting inclusive economic growth within the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency.
He assured constituents that their welfare, empowerment, and advancement would remain central to his public service agenda.
“Together, we can shape a future where hard work is duly rewarded, opportunities are equitably accessible, and every citizen is empowered to thrive,” he said.
Ogalegu, while commending workers for their sacrifices, urged them to remain steadfast in their contributions to nation-building, describing them as indispensable partners in the drive toward sustainable development.
