Member House of Representatives for Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, Terseer Ugbor, has condemned in strong terms the assaults, killings and invasion of Udeku community, Mbaikyor council ward and neighboring Kwande Local Government Area by Fulani herdsmen.
Ugbor who made the condemnation while reacting to the recent killings in the area, which claimed more than three lives leaving other sustaining various degrees of injuries and several others currently being displaced, said Udeku and neighboring communities have been under siege.
The House of Representatives member whose condemnation was contained in a statement signed by his media assistant, Fred Dagu, released yesterday in Makurdi, recalled that between January to March, over 40 of his constituents have been murdered in cold blood, and expressed sorrow over the recurring and distressing incidents within the constituency.
He called for better collaboration between stakeholders including security agencies, traditional rulers, policy makers and the government at all levels to end what he described as incessant unprovoked killings.
Ugbor who lamented that the people he represents are being killed senselessly, further implored security forces to move into the troubled communities immediately with the aim to stop the killings, affirming his unwavering willingness to pursue through any lawful means within his constitutional authority to end the killings.
He equally expressed readiness to collaborate with security experts and stakeholders with ideas on the most effective approach to curb insecurity in the constituency and appealed to both the state and federal government to provide relief materials to assist those displaced population currently dispersed in their thousands without food and shelter.
