Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, on Tuesday inaugurated justice sector reform steering committee in the state.
Idris who signed the 2023 justice reform law said that he responded to the yearnings of the people of Kebbi who desires coordination and cooperation in the justice sector to quicken dispensation of justice for all manner of citizens.
He explained that the reform seeks to enhance proper coordination as absence of the justice reform law contributed to congestion in custodial centers in the state.
“Now with the justice sector reform our judicial arm will witness massive turn around and our people too will benefit from it”, he said.
While accepting their request to build a befitting secretariat, Idris donated the sum of one hundred million to Kebbi state branch of the Nigeria Bar Association NBA, aside other mouth-watering pledges to bring comfort to lawyers to be able to discharge their duties effectively and under conducive atmosphere.
“This government is yours, we shall do everything to make you comfortable as we don’t want to see lawyers coming to court on motorcycles. We have accepted all your request”, he said.
The occasion was attended by top government functionaries and legal luminaries at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
