No fewer than two hundred and fifty elderly persons of 65 years old on Thursday benefited from the Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme.
In a symbolic flag off of the scheme named Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme, the representative of Mrs. Tinubu, the wife Kebbi governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasir Idris, the coordinator of the scheme in Kebbi state said that the purpose of the scheme is to assist the elderly within the age of 65 upward as support to manage their old age.
The first lady added that the scheme is unprecedented in the history of Nigeria therefore lauded the president’s wife, Senator Remi Tinubu for paying huge attention to the elderly to complement already existing social interventions programmes in the country under her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying already Nigerians are feeling positive impact of his government.
Mrs. Idris urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the grants, which include 10 pieces of macaroni noodles, bags of rice and one hundred naira cash to two hundred and fifty elderly persons in Kebbi state.
She explained that Kebbi state government on her part held medical outreach to at least 50 elderly persons who turned up and were diagnosed, screened and given free drugs to mark the day. She called on women to pray for the success of President Tinubu government and her husband Dr. Nasir Idris.
Mr Idris noted that already a sum of N950 million has been provided for the scheme approved by the senate while each state of the federation will get 25m to implement the scheme in their respective states including Abuja ” hence the reason we are here today to support the wife of the president Senator Remi Tinubu to assist the elderly of ages 65 and above she said ”
Commissioner for information, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Bk, his counterpart from the ministry for youth, Alhaji Niuradeen Fingila, deputy governor’s wife among other top government functionaries.
