The Customs Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone “B” Assistant Comptroller General of Customs (ACG) Sambo Kaliel Dangaladima visited Sokoto/Zamfara Area Command on working visit where he held an interactive session with Customs officers, stakeholders, license agents, Car Dealers Association of Nigeria Sokoto chapter and National Association of Onion Producers and Marketers of Nigeria.
The Customs Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Abdullahi Tsafe Abubakar in a statement said the visit aimed at building a more effective and efficient system of trade facilitation.
ACG Dangaladima in his opening remark informed stakeholders of the tireless effort of the service under the leadership of Comptroller General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi is making towards ensuring a hitch-free trade facilitation in line with world best practice which include the deployment of trade facilitation tools such as Authorized Economic Operator programmme(AEO), Time release studies (TRS) and Advance Ruling (AR) all geared towards strengthening international trade.
He further advocate the stakeholders to be compliant to Customs extant laws.
The Sokoto/Zamfara Area Comptroller, Comptroller Kamal Muhammad in his welcome address extolled the ACG’s tireless commitments to excellence and unwavering support to the Command which he said has continue to inspire officers and men of the zone.
Comptroller Kamal further stated that “Zone B covers the largest landmass among all four zones in the service, making comprehensive oversight a significant undertaking, for a decade due to the challenges possed by this expanse, no ACG has been able to complete a full tour of all the Commands in the Zone, yet today; in defiance of these obstacles and security challenges, ACG SK Dangaladima has demonstrated his commitment to a firsthand and thorough assessment of each Command.”
The Comptroller encouraged stakeholders to bring forward their observation suggestions, challenges and recommendation, further stating that the ACG is a deeply committed leader who will relay their feedback to Comptroller General of Customs.
In response, the Chairman Sokoto Association of Customs License Agent, Alhaji Aminu Dan’iya, enlogized the ACG for organizing such an engagement which is one of its kind in the last 10 years. He assured the ACG that his members will continue to be law-abiding.
ACG Dangaladima also haad a session with officers and men of the command where he advised them to be embodiment of the service motto which is justice and honesty in their area of responsibility.
