The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council, has officially inaugurated a seven-member credential committee ahead of its elections. This marks an important step as the current leadership prepares for a transition of power to the newly elected executive members, with the handover set for December 22, 2024.
Speaking at the inauguration, Comrade Abdullahi Safiyal Magori, chairman of the Sokoto NUJ, reminded the committee of the significance of their task, quoting, “Whatever goes up must one day come down,” referring to the impending transition of the current leadership.
He stressed the importance of conducting free and fair elections in accordance with the union’s guidelines, rules, and regulations, wishing the committee success in fulfilling their responsibilities.
The newly inaugurated credential committee members include:
Alhaji Shehu Jatau Sanyinna – Chairman
Abdallah El-Kurebe – Secretary
Nura Bello S. Tangaza – Member
Murjanatu Magaji – Member
Ahmad Rabiu Wurno – Member
Abdullahi Umar Modibbo – Member
Mohammed Umar – Member.

In his address, chairman Shehu Jatau Sanyinna, on behalf of the committee, expressed gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to serve and assured the public of their commitment to ensuring a smooth and credible election process.
He promised that the committee would adhere strictly to the rules and regulations, facilitating a transparent transition of power.
Concluding his remarks, Magori reiterated the need for unity within the union, stating, “Together, we can make our union great again through conducting free and fair elections in the state.”
