Benue State Government would soon initiate a template to reward civil servants who excel in the course of assigned duties in the state through promotion to the next grade level instead of mere presentation of plagues in award and slim envelopes as handouts to deserving staff as done currently.
Governor Hyacinth Alia who announced this while speaking at headquarters of Benue State Emergency Management Agency BSEMA, during an end- of- year party organized for staff of the agency said his administration is mindful of career progression hence the need to introduce the package that is more lasting to deserving civil servants.
The governor represented by his Principal Private Secretary, PPS, Emmanuel Chenge described the end-of- year parties as avenue where organizations after working very hard for the year takes stock, reinvigorate the staff and plan for the future to know how to move in the next phase, and commended BSEMA’ s henchman James Iorpuu for putting together the end- of- year event.
He charged awardees to redouble their efforts, adding that government looks forward to see them maintain the tempo of hardwork for it to continue to deliver on its campaign promises.
The governor who restated resolve of his administration to ensure that IDPs return back to their ancestral homes and also live descent lives like other Nigerian citizens after suffering in camps for about 10 years, urged the IDPs who lost their voters cards due to displacement to remain hopeful.
He said his administration would collaborate with INEC to ensure that IDPs return to their ancestral homes, register so that they will also perfom their civic duty through their PVCs to vote him again to continue the good works and complete the return process.
In a speech, Permanent Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency, BSEMA, James Iorpuu, disclosed that on assumption of office his administration prioritized proper management of displaced persons with the recognization of seven unofficial IDPs camp which increased the number of official camps to 14, adding that to enhance administration,the agency recruited more personnel and deployed them to oversee camps.
He further disclosed that his administration understanding the importance of collaboration strengthened partnership with UN agencies and other humanitarian actors who are giving support for emergency response interventions in the state, adding that the strategic partnership has facilitated increased humanitarian assistance to ensure IDPs,host communities and refugees at Ikyogen and other affected locations receive timely aided.
Iorpuu who attributed the success BSEMA has recorded to the support of Governor Alia’s compassion, love and dedication to the welfare of the people also commended staff of the agency, security agencies, humanitarian partners, the media and all stakeholders for their various contributions, assuring the agency will remain committed to service as well as work to ensure that IDPs gets back to their ancestral homes.
