The Assemblies of God Nigeria Abuja East District, on Saturday, held a one-day training programme tagged ‘Illuminate 2025’ for its personnel who came from the various sections that make up the district.
They were trained on how to can take advantage of the media space both to enrich themselves as well as to stream the gospel of Christ far and near. Media personnel were described as ministers of God, just like the pastors, because they are the ones that extend the word of God to those outside.
The event which took place at Assemblies of God near Car Wash Bus Stop, along Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Lugbe, Abuja, exposed to the participants the available avenues with which they can start creating content and be making money through the social media instead of relying solely on the conventional medium.
The media workers were taught by different facilitators on ‘How to monetize your social media account’ by Mr. Glen Den, ‘Visual Production’, ‘Camera and video production training’ by Mr. Dibor Ugochukwu as well as ‘How to stream online and be a good consul operator’ by Mr. Progress Momoh.
In his sermon, the Abuja East District Teens Coordinator, Pastor Murphy Chuks, likened the job of the media workers as light bearers, and so they need to shine the light to people through available medium especially the new media.
According to him, “Absence of media symbolizes darkness, and darkness can minimize your quality and prevent you from manifesting. It’s like blindness, and you are the ones to shine the light for people to see. You are to illuminate the shadow of darkness and give what is needed by the people; that is light”.
He referred to Genesis 1:3 “And God said let there be light and there was light, and Isaiah 60:1 “Arise and shine for your light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you”.
Murphy said God has already created the light, but it’s the duty of the media workers to illuminate it by giving the people what they needed.
In his remark, the coordinator of Assemblies of God Abuja East District Media Department, AGAEMD, Reverend David Oyetunde, the training is first of its kind in the district, and the purpose is to enhance the efficiency of those handling the various media units in their churches.
He expressed optimism that quality of service of the media officers will not remain the same after the encounter.
The pioneer media coordinator, Reverend Ayuba Wajo was honoured at the event having serving for 14 years before handing over to Oyetunde. Portrait bearing his image was also presented to him in appreciation of his superlative performance while he held sway.
The Director Corporate Ministry, Reverend Gospel Ike Chuks who spoke on behalf of the district superintendent Reverend Emmanuel Ottah thanked the leadership of AGAEMD for organizing the event and urged participants to see it as a wonderful opportunity to acquire more knowledge and do better in their various churches.
