Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prohibiting the sale of liquor and other intoxicants in the state.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the reconstructed Shagari Jumu’at Mosque, Governor Aliyu commended the Sokoto State Hisbah Board for its efforts in ridding the society of social vices, including the recent confiscation and destruction of liquor.
The press statement made available to newsmen in Sokoto by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa said the government is determined to eliminate the sale of liquor and intoxicants in the state.
It said the Hisbah Corps will continue operations within the framework of the law and with respect for fundamental human rights.
Governor Aliyu therefore called for public support and cooperation to enable the Hisbah Board to discharge its duties effectively.
