By Haruna Usman, Birnin Kebbi

The special adviser on Energy and Politics to the governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Kabiru Sani, has called on the top-ranking management of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, to sack the regional manager of its company for alleged sabotage of Kebbi government’s efforts to ensure stable power supply in the state.

The governor’s aide explained that the former adviser on energy during the government of Atiku Bagudu is colluding with some official of KEDCO to frustrate governor’s efforts in that direction by conniving with them to disconnect critical sectors in the state like water board where people of the state rely on for water supply even when the state pays it bills regularly to the tune of N25 million.

He added that the management of KEDCO should know that there is no connection between Yusuf Haruna Fela, the former special adviser and the state government, as far as energy issues are concerned.

“Let me categorically state here that we do not have anything to do him as such what he is doing with KEDCO officials amount to act of sabotage. We are therefore calling for the sack of regional manager and other top officers of the company for conniving with the former SA to sabotage the government”, he warned.

Governor Idris

Responding to the allegations on behalf of the company, the chief regional manager, Mr. Sunday denied any connivance with the former special adviser to the governor, Yusuf Haruna, saying what the company did was within the ambit of law to disconnect customers who defaults. He stated that the company appreciates the harmonious relationship between the government and the company for her various assistance and said they will continue to work hand-in-hand with the government to ensure adequate power supply in the state.

“We are not in any way conniving with former adviser, in fact I am not aware of anything of such”, he added.

In a related development, the special adviser stated that in an effort by the government to bring the poor closer to governance, the state governor, Dr. Nasir Nasir Idris has procured over 1,000 solar-powered pumping machines to be given to farmers for free to boost food production.

He said this is part of the reason they disowned the former special adviser because Idris runs government of the people not just for the privileged few he said.
