APC, PDP at loggerheads over Kebbi governor’s absence during Sallah

By Haruna Usman, Birnin Kebbi

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Kebbi state, on Saturday reacted to opposition party in the state, PDP, on their claims that the governor is absent while civil servants in the state are gearing up for sallah celebrations without any package.

Reacting on the press release, the APC’S imagemaker, Alhaji Isah Assalafy who dismissed the claim said that, the opposition is losing focus because attacking the governor for observing one of the pillars of Islam which is hajj is the height of insensitivity and lack of nothing to say.

He explained that neighbouring states who they claimed paid June salaries actually gave loans to civil servants which the state government knows that debt is never a way of lifting people from poverty.

He stated that it is on record that no state in country pays salaries of workers promptly like Kebbi state and as well the only state that pays pensions and gratuities regularly.

He added that the oppositions are simply confused with what the government is doing to the people of the state in all strata of lives. He urged the public to disregard the fallacious and ridiculous propaganda.

Recall that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, in Kebbi state, in a press statement titled; Kebbi workers take heart” attacked the governor for refusing to give sallah package to civil servants like what Sokoto, Zamfara and Bauchi states did.

The press statement also claimed that the governor is absent while civil servants can’t slaughter rams or even cook salah food; the claim which the APC dismissed and described as chasing shadows.
