Director General, Benue Education Quality Assurance Agency, BEQA Dr. Terna Francis, has directed principals of secondary schools in the state who have collected excess payment as handling charges from students to refund it with immediate effect or face sanctions.

The DG who gave the directive when he led a team of management staff of the Agency on an unscheduled visit to some schools including Mount Carmel College, UBE Junior Secondary School and NKST Secondary School all on Naka road within Makurdi metropolis equally asked principals of the schools and others to adhere strictly to the approved handling charges of N5000.

According to him, the essence of the tour, which is a routine exercise, was part of his resolution in line with the Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia administration to uphold standard as well as ensure academic excellence in schools across the state.

He also told principals during the visit that no SS3 student should be granted admission in the second term, affirming that this would maintain a consistent and uninterrupted academic calendar.

Dr. Terna Francis, during the tour, also inspected registers of form masters, schemes and record of work as well as lesson plans, and stressed that the thorough evaluation underlines his dedication to quality control within the educational system under the Alia administration.
