Benue State Government has concluded arrangements to establish a commercial Bank at Ihugh town in Vandeikya Local Government Area of the state to ease business transactions for the people.
Governor Hyacinth Alia who announced government’s decision during a thanksgiving mass in honour of his special adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Denen Aondoakaa, held at St. Winifred Parish Ihugh, explained that the bank would also help address the challenge of theft when marketers carry huge sums of money are robbed by criminal elements.
He also disclosed that it was not proper for one of the biggest markets in Tiv land to continue to operate without a bank, arguing that with the establishment, those transacting big businesses, while others will withdraw cash on arrival for business transaction.
The governor who expressed the determination of his administration to ensure that people of the state live descent, healthy and comfortable environments, promised to sink a borehole at St Winifred Parish Ihugh to address the perennial water challenge faced by people of the area.
In a remark, special adviser to the governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Denen Aondoakaa, said the thanksgiving mass was to thank God for his elevation by the governor and commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for finding him worthy to serve in his administration.
He promised to do everything possible not to disappoint the governor and people of the state for the confidence reposed in him.
In a sermon, Rev. Fr. Isaac Shalee charged Christians to build their families in Jesus Christ whom he described as head of all families.
He thanked the special adviser, Aondoakaa for returning thanks to God for the things He has done in his life and family, urging others who God has remembered to emulate him.
