Benue Government supports families of fallen security personnel with N380m

The Benue State Government has announced a donation of N380 million to the families of security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty while protecting the state’s citizens from insurgency and herdsmen attacks between 2024 and 2025.

Governor Hyacinth Alia who made the announcement during a ceremony yesterday held at the old banquet hall of Government House Makurdi, also presented cheques of N5 million each to the families of the fallen heroes.

According to Governor Alia, the people of Benue State will forever be grateful to those who paid the supreme price for the state to enjoy peace.

He expressed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the children of the victims receive scholarships and support to enable the widows to own businesses and improve their lives.

The governor commended security agencies operating in the state for their support in responding to desperate security situations in troubled areas, describing their support as unprecedented.

He promised that his administration would identify with officers serving in the state both in good and bad times and continue to support the families of fallen heroes.

Governor Alia urged members of the public to support the families of the fallen heroes by sharing with them and paying visits, describing such gestures as giving back to families of the deceased human kindness.

He also expressed appreciation to security agencies for their support and urged them to continue in the spirit.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ifeanyi Enemari, expressed gratitude to the governor for the donation and attention given to the welfare of security personnel working in the state.

He assured the governor that security personnel would redouble their efforts to achieve peace in the state.

The wife of the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Ajunwa Enemari, appreciated the governor for the support to security agencies and widows of deceased officers.

She appealed to the government to provide scholarships to children of the fallen heroes.
