Kunav Group comprising over eleven community associations have urged Governor Hyacinth Alia to remain focused on his visionary goals for the state, promising their continued support as the governor works to make Benue State a model of development, peace and prosperity.
The coalition also vowed to resist any act of violence or threat to the progress of Governor Alia’s administration.
Speaking during a press conference held at NUJ House, yesterday, in Makurd, on the theme: Governor Alia’s vision for a new Benue, leader of the groups and president of Club De 8 ,Dr. Peter Anule, commended the governor’s remarkable achievements in area of timely payment of salaries, pensions, approval of new minimum wage, revitalization of infrastructure, expansion of public transport, support to agriculture and industrialization within a short period in office.
The group noted with satisfaction the governor’s giant strides in the area of educational advancement, security and development, stressing that inauguration of the civil protection guards to complement conventional security, coupled with his 10- year development plan,peace would certainly return to troubled areas.
Dr. Anule, on behalf of the groups condemned in strong terms the abduction last December of the President General of Kunav Development Association, KUDA, in his hometown at Tsar, Vandeikya Local Government Area, extending gratitude to the security agencies for acting swiftly to secure his release.
The groups’ spokesperson described such acts of violence as an affront to the peace-loving nature of the Kunav people and a threat to the progress Governor Alia a Kunav son is striving to achieve, insisting that they will continue to seek peaceful coexistence with their neighbors but noted that the people will not hesitate to take decisive action against any individual or group that seeks to disrupt the peace
and stability of their communities.
The groups while extending their support to the governor for his remarkable achievements within a short period of time, assured the governor that they would always stand united in their commitment to a brighter future for Benue and the Kunav people.
Dr. Anule during the occasion on behalf of the coalition commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for his exemplary stewardship in the state which is characterized by a commitment to positive change, development and well- being of all citizens, expressing their collective support for his visionary leadership.
