Benue will benefit from visit of former UK minister, says Gov Alia

Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has lauded efforts of the former United Kingdom, UK, minister for Energy and Climate Change, Baroness Sandip for putting Africa and Nigeria on the radar of development.

Governor Alia who gave the commendation at the weekend when he received the former member House of Lords, United Kingdom, Baroness Sandip who was at government house Makurdi for a visit, affirmed that his administration has heard much about contributions of the former minister on issues concerning Nigeria and Africa and expressed happiness in receiving her and the team.

The governor during the visit in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula told the delegation that his administration and Benue people have heard much about the goodwill of the former UK minister, including her tall profile and good intentions for the state, country and Africa, affirming that she is in the right place and described Benue State as a place full of investment opportunities especially in the agricultural sector.

In her speech Baroness Sandip expressed appreciation to the governor for the warmalia reception accorded her and her team, adding that she has now considered herself as a Nigerian and stated that having seen that the country has so much to offer the world, she is pleased to be part of the journey at the beginning.

She stated that as a business woman, politician and entrepreneurship,she would continue to champion the course of tackling violence against women and the girl child, promising to remain an advocate of women empowerment and entrepreneurship.
