BIRS partners Ede of Ugbokolo to boost revenue generation in Benue

Acting Chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service,BIRS, Mr. Emmanuel Agema, has taken a significant step towards enhancing revenue generation in the state by collaborating with the Ede of Ugbokolo.

Agema who made the disclosure in a statement signed by his media assistant, Jacintha Bernard, yesterday in Makurdi, said the partnership is aimed at ensuring optimal revenue collection in all areas of the state.

Agema represented during the meeting at the Ede’s residence in Ugbokolo, by the Board Secretary/Legal Adviser Ushahemba Dekaa, who led other management staff sought the traditional ruler’s support in establishing a monitoring and inspection point in the area.

He said the initiative would facilitate observation, inspection, and checkmating of taxpayers, to ensure compliance with the Benue State Revenue Administration Law, 2022.

Responding,the Ede of Ugbokolo, His Royal Highness, Emmanuel Ochechema, expressed his support for the initiative and assured the BIRS management of his cooperation.

He acknowledged the growth and development in the state under Governor Hyacinth Alia’s leadership and emphasized the importance of fulfilling tax obligations to reciprocate the government’s efforts.

The BIRS management team during the visit also inspected the site allocated for the monitoring point, marking a significant step towards implementing this initiative.

Other members of the management team in attendance during the visit included directors from various departments, demonstrating the agency’s commitment to this collaboration.
