An international health investment summit and scientific exhibition put together by the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, BSUTH, expected to hold at the University College of Health Sciences auditorium commenced yesterday, in Makurdi the Benue State capital.
Speaking at a media briefing ahead of the two- day event to kick-start activities for the summit and scientific exhibition, Chief Medical Director, CMD of the hospital, Stephen Hwande said the event which has the theme: Towards Attaining a One Stop Hospital would also feature an endowment fund which the hospital intend to establish a cancer center.
He said management’s decision to particularly launch the endowment fund for establishment of a caner centre and the sub- themes slated for discussion by seasoned medical experts such as the M/D Advanced Medical Services Ltd, Tolulope Adewale and Eric Honqin Liu- Chairman Unicare Pharmaceuticals Company Ltd, Paul Orhii, former NAFDAC boss among others, carefully chosen is to help the hospital contribute to research and training as an institution, as well as demystify cancer.
Hwande also disclosed to journalists during the briefing that awards would be given to deserving personalities who have contributed to the development of the hospital, adding that those who merited the list would include Governor Hyacinth Alia for giving priority attention in providing funds for running the institution, former Governor of the state Gabriel Suswam for providing state- of-the- art equipment during his tenure as governor and bringing former president Goodluck Jonathan to commission the facility.
The CMD BSUTH also announced during the briefing that the occasion would witnessed a medical scientific exhibition with display of medical equipment, launch of an autra modern cancer centre as well as recognized those that has contributed to the growth of the hospital as ambassadors.
