The Darul Erkam Foundation, Sulaimaniyah and Diversity, and the Government of Turkey Foundations have distributed over 3000 cows worth N1 billion to the needy in Sokoto

Speaking to newsmen on the activities, Chairman Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment and Islamic Education Trust, Muhammad Lawal Maidoki appreciated the team, volunteers and partners who worked tirelessly to make the event a success.

However, Lawal Maidoki said despite their plan to slaughter 4,5,000 animals, they received just over 3,000 resulting in a shortfall.

He said this coupled with the high demand for Qurbani meat, and security issues posed difficulties in meeting the expectations of all beneficiaries.

Taking full responsibility for any shortcomings, he apologized to those who were unable to receive the cow meat due to these challenges adding that they understood the importance of this act of charity and the trust placed on them.

Maidoki affirmed that this experience has taught them lessons and therefore would work to address the challenges.

He then appreciated unflinching support of the state government for provision of logistics and other essential needs required for conduct of cows sharing adding that people in the state have greatly benefited.
