The Nigeria Customs Service Kebbi State Area Command, on Tuesday donated books, pens and food items to pupils of Gwandu Emirate Model Primary School in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state.
Donating the items to one thousand seven hundred and thirteen pupils, the Kebbi Command Comptroller of Customs, Earnest Ihejirika said that the donation is part of their corporate social responsibility to their host community.
He explained that the charity visit to the school was meant to interact with the pupils to highlight the official job of Customs and draw their attention on the need for them to understand laws of land and contribution of Customs to national economy.
Earlier, the head teacher of the school, Malam Aminu Sani, in his response thanked officers and men of the Nigeria Customs for the visit and urged them to sustain the tempo. He said the gesture will portray them as humane and responsible organisation with compassion and it will as well encourage the pupils to join Customs work after school.
Emir of Gwandu, represented by the emirate council member, Alhaji Ibrahim Bashar KKB, described the kind gesture as timely saying the charity visit will open the eyes of the pupils to see and know the existence of Customs in their domain.
“They will no longer fear Customs because they can testify to the fact that they have human heart and are lovers of education and the emir of Gwandu Alhaji Iliyasu Bashar is pleased with the visit and sends his blessings to the entire Customs in Kebbi Command.
