A former Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Dr Mike Omeri has warned Nigerians against allowing culture and tradition of the people go into extinction.
Omeri who is the senatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Nasarawa South, gave the warning when he joined the people of Owusakyo Kingdom in celebrating 34 years anniversary of His Royal Highness Osula Inarigu, the Osakyo of Owusakyo in Assakio, Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The former NOA DG who is also the Okina of Owusakyo decried fast disappearing of culture and tradition in the country particularly, Nasarawa State called on the custodian of the people’s tradition to reawaken and sensitize the people on the need to remember their culture and tradition.
“Our culture and tradition must not be allowed to go into extinction. This is necessary and important so that our children yet unborn will not be deprived of knowing what our forefathers handed down to us. Preservation of culture and tradition should not become alien in our society.”, Dr Omeri stated.
The frontline senatorial aspirant felicitated with the traditional ruler for clocking 34 years on the throne.and prayed God to bless him for his leadership style.
“Your Royal Highness, we are most grateful to Almighty God for carrying you through the 34 years of your reigns in peace and sound health.
“I pray that these 34 years be reckoned as the first many steps into a glorious legacy of blessings, greatness and progress for the people of Owusakyo Kingdom and Nasarawa State at large.
” It is my ernest prayer that God grants you excellent health, prosperity and many more years to continue in your immeasurable services to the peace and progress of all.Once again, congratulations”, Mike declared.
