DSS, army storm Miyetti Allah headquarters, arrest president

Barely one week after the launch of a vigilante group in Nasarawa State, operatives of the Department of State Service, DSS, have arrested the President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo in Nasarawa state.

Bodejo was arrested Tuesday at the Miyetti Allah’s Head Office, Tundun Wada Maliya Cattle Market along Abuja-Keffi high way, Karu local government area of the state.

According to report obtained in Lafia Tuesday evening, DSS operatives in collaboration with some Nigeria Army officials stormed the headquarters of the Miyetti Allah at about 3:40pm and whisked away the National president of the Fulani socio-cultural group.

Sources closed to DSS revealed that Bodejo was arrested over fears that the creation of the Nomad’s Vigilante Group could cause violence across the country.

The sources said however that the arrest is not unconnected with the fact that the group is not registered with the DSS, the police, or any other security agency, hence it is not recognised by law.

The source said, “DSS operatives and soldiers stormed the Miyetti Allah’s head office in Nasarawa this afternoon, and we’ve arrested their national president, Bello Bodejo, for creating a vigilante group that is not recognised by the government”.

NationsPride reported recently that the president of the Fulani Socio Cultural Association had said the creation of the vigilante group as a volunteer vigilante outfit would strictly adhere to the country’s existing laws during their operations.

Bodejo had urged the volunteer vigilantes to work in collaboration with the police, army, and other security agencies to ensure a more comprehensive approach to security across the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa.
