Aspirants of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State have expressed strong confidence in the party’s chances at the forthcoming local government and ward councilorship elections, describing the polls as a critical launchpad for the party’s broader ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The aspirants, who were recently screened and cleared by the party, made the declaration while addressing party members and supporters across various local government areas of the state.
They pledged to secure victory at the polls if granted the party’s ticket during the primaries, assuring the electorate of people-oriented leadership, inclusive governance, and grassroots-driven development.
Speaking collectively, the aspirants described the ADC as a fast-growing political movement that has continued to gain acceptance among the people of Ebonyi State due to its ideology, internal democracy, and commitment to accountable governance.
According to them, the party has emerged as a “new bride” in the state’s political landscape and a formidable force capable of challenging the dominant political structures.
They noted that the growing popularity of the ADC at the grassroots level positions the party strongly for success in the local government elections and beyond, stressing that victory at the council level would provide a solid foundation for competing effectively in the 2027 general elections.
Among those successfully screened for councillorship positions are Hon. Agwu Ibiam Agha of Amairi Ward in Edda Local Government Area; Ekuma Joseph Nnaemeka from Okposhi Ward, Ohaukwu LGA; Comrade Nwali John Chizoba of Amudo/Okoffia Ward in Ezza South LGA; Igwe Ephraim Chukwuemeka from Effium Ward 11, Ohaukwu LGA; and Nwankwo Faith Nkechi of Okposhi Umuoghara Ward, Ezza North LGA.
For the chairmanship positions, Hon. Uche Ebere Jorvia of Ishi Ngbo Ward 11 and Hon. Pastor Ndubuisi Alagba of Ishi Ngbo Ward 2, both from Ohaukwu Local Government Area, also emerged as successfully screened aspirants.
The aspirants pledged to run issue-based campaigns anchored on accountability, transparency, and sustainable development at the local government level.
They further called on party members to remain united before, during, and after the primaries, emphasizing that unity within the party remains key to consolidating the ADC’s presence across Ebonyi State.
According to them, success at the local government level would not only deepen grassroots governance but also position the ADC to redefine leadership and deliver tangible dividends of democracy to the people of Ebonyi State ahead of the 2027 elections.
