Fight against terrorism: Bauchi Government promotes Umar Shayi

Bauchi State Government has elevated Dr. Umar Shayi from Director General of Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency to the position of Coordinating Director in recognition of his fight against terrorism and banditry in the state.

This was affirmed in a promotion letter dated October 13, 2025, signed by Yakubu Bello on behalf of the Head of Service, Bauchi State Civil Service Commission, elevating him to Grade Level 17 in the Bauchi State Civil Service.

Before this promotion, Umar Shayi has been coordinating fight against all terrorism and banditry in collaboration with conventional and non-conventional security agencies in Bauchi State and beyond.

He was a recipient of national and international award from various credible organizations for his untiring efforts, justice, dedication to service to humanity.

Shayi is also the current Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and doubles as the Assistant Commander General (Operations) of Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS).

He holds the traditional title of Hero of Balaa Waja Kingdom from the Emir of Balanga, recently witnessed by large numbers of well-wishers, friends, family and associates from all walks of life.
