Kebbi State command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps on Tuesday took a robust campaign and sensitisations against mixing humans, animals and food items in Jega town in one trailer while traveling on the high ways within and outside the state .
The corps sector commander, Yusuf Aliyu Haruna Kiru, in his address said that the sensitisations was a routine activity to enlighten trailer drivers in the state on dangers of overloading animals, food and humans in a single trailer, which is a common practice by trailer drivers .
According to him, such unwholesome practices trigger high roads crashes leading to huge lost of lives, animals, food and humans because such overloaded vehicle risk tyre burst that can send the vehicle to skid off road or sumersault as the case may be.
“Let me warn here that whoever is caught in the act will face severe punishment. Waste of human lives for whatever reason would not be forgiven as the corps are always on their toes to ensure sharp reduction in roads crashes caused by human”.
Kiru added that the sensitisations runs concurrently with the routine patrol against dangerous driving and overloading in the state by both trailer drivers and other commercial vehicles plying the roads daily.
The trailer chairman, Jega Alhaji Yusuf, responded by promise to take the campaign to their members and thanked the state commander by selecting their local government for the program.
The enlightenment was attended by members of NURTW, NARTO trailer and articulated vehicles, unit commanders of the FRSC.
